National Parks In Rajasthan

Rajasthan, has been blessed with a natural and rich wildlife and a sprawling Thar dessert. This wildlife contains all sorts of animals, many of which are now currently endangered although there are several national parks in Rajasthan that work for preserving them.

The Sariska Tiger Reserve

This is one of the most sought after tiger reserves in India. The greatest attraction of this reserve is the presence of the Bengal Tiger. The park is located at a distance of 107 km from Jaipur and 200 km from Delhi. The nearest railway station is located at Alwar, 37 kilometers away from the wildlife reserve. The best time to visit Sariska is October 1st to June 30th.

Desert National Park

This is the largest national park in the country with a specialty of the Great Indian Bustard, a unique endangered bird. The best time to visit this national park is from October to February. The main attractions are the varieties of deer found in this sanctuary. Nearest railway station to this park is Jaisalmer railway station located 2 km from the city. This national park has duly preserved the Rajasthan wildlife.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park

This is a popular Rajasthan National Park and is included in the World Heritage Site.  The nearest railway station to this wildlife sanctuary is Bharatpur Junction which is around 5 km from the place. This sanctuary is an abode to 379 floral species, 366 bird species and several other animals. The best time to visit this place is between October to February.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

This wildlife sanctuary in Rajasthan is located in the Rajsamand district. This sanctuary surrounds the Kumbalgarh Fort. Thousands of tourists visit this place for its unique combination of birds and animals. The best period to visit this place is between October to March. Maharana Pratap Airport at Dabok, Udaipur, is the nearest airport to Kumbhalgarh. From there one can take a taxi to reach the city.

Mount Abu Sanctuary, Mount Abu

This Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most visited wildlife sanctuaries in Rajasthan. It harbors a large number of wild animals, birds, plants and trees. A quality of orchid species are also found in the sanctuary along with lush bamboo forests. Best time to visit is from April to June and November to February. Abu Road is the nearest railway station to Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary.

Ranthambore National Park

It is one of the largest and most important and most visited tiger reserves in Rajasthan. It is situated in the Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan. This sanctuary is famous for its flourishing population of tigers. The tigers can be easily spotted in the park. The best time to visit the park is in the months of November and May. Jaipur which is 160 km away, is the nearest airport to this place and Sawai Madhopur Railway Station is around 11 km.

Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is situated in the city of Udaipur. This safari Park was created for the reintroduction of wild animals like Chital, Wild Boar, and Blue Bull. The best time to visit this sanctuary is the monsoon and one can enjoy this place by a jeep. It is also one of the best national park of Rajasthan. Best time to visit is from October to June. 

Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is situated in the Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan and is covered in lush green forests throughout. The nearest railway stations are Mandsaur which is 28 km & Chittorgarh which is 110 km. This wildlife sanctuary is often also called the ‘Bird Paradise’ since it is a lavish bird sanctuary is Rajasthan. Best time to visit is from October to March.

Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary

Jaisamand Sanctuary is situated at a distance of 51 km south east of Udaipur and is home to a major portion of wildlife in Rajasthan. The variety of species available here include that of sloth bear, leopard and a wide variety of birds. Best time to visit this sanctuary is from November to April. Nearest railway station and airport are that of Udaipur.

Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary

This is a wildlife sanctuary near Bassi in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. Panther, Mongoose and Languor and many more can be easily spotted in this Rajasthan wildlife sanctuary. There are a lot of floral species too. October to February is the appropriate time to visit Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary. Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur is the nearest airport.

Mukundra Hills National Park

This national park, due to its amazing flora and fauna is much favored in the list of national park in Rajasthan. Mukundra Hills National Park is located in Rajasthan. The sanctuary is located to the southeastern border of the town Kota.  Nearest airport to this place is Udaipur. The best time to visit is from April to June.

The Darrah National Park

It is one of the most popular national parks in Rajasthan which was +established in 2004. It is home to a number of species including the wild boar, deer and wolves. Best time to visit is from October to March.

National Chambal Sanctuary

This place is situated at the point where the borders of the states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh align, on the River Chambal. The sanctuary is home to several species such as the Indian Wolf, striped hyena etc. Best time to visit this place is from September to June.

Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary

This is located in the proximity of Nahargarh Fort, outside Jaipur. It is the home to leopards and deer and several other animals. Best time to visit this sanctuary would be in monsoons. Udaipur railway station is the nearest.

Todgarh Raoli Wildlife Sanctuary

This place is a favorite among nature lovers. Most of the region here is unexplored and is popular for eco-tourism. Best time to visit it is in early April and the nearest railway station is Udaipur.
